Mary-PAtricia Wray, J.d. | Founder

Mary-Patricia Wray, J.D. is the Founder of Top Drawer Strategies. She is a graduate of The Ohio State University and Loyola University of New Orleans College of Law. She serves as Adjunct Faculty at Tulane University Law School, teaching a clinic on Legislative and Administrative Advocacy. MP's passion for affecting the political process is well known at the Louisiana Capitol. She’s handled public and government relations efforts for clients who advocate on multimodal transportation, healthcare, waste management, coastal restoration, local government, solution-driven non-profit missions, state budgeting and capital outlay to secure  millions for clients who improve their communities, and more.

MP is well known as one of the first true believers in the candidacy of John Bel Edwards for Governor, and led his 2015 campaign, securing victory for the only Democratic statewide elected official in Louisiana and the only Democratic Governor in the Deep South. She served as the candidate’s spokesperson, oversaw earned media strategy and implementation including social media, digital campaigns, supporter communications and solicitations, opposition research, debate and candidate forum preparation, policy research and drafting of candidate’s policy positions, and contributed to the creation and production of other paid media including award winning television and radio advertising. Her efforts helped to elect Governor Edwards by a substantial margin in 2015. She continues to serve as a General Consultant on political based issue campaigns around the country, specializing in communicating controversial persuasive messages to moderates.

In 2018 she served as the general consultant on both “sides" of the bipartisan effort to end the use of non-unanimous juries in Louisiana, erasing one of the last Jim Crow era laws from the books and restoring justice to Louisiana’s courtrooms. In that campaign she delivered a 64% margin of victory, securing a mandate on the state’s recent, historic criminal justice reforms by working with stakeholders and organizations from both sides of the political spectrum to produce digital media, direct mail, radio, and design a winning field program for the ages.

She is the proud owner of two Weimaraners, Coltrane and Clementine, as well as the jubilant mother of the future Governor of Louisiana Henry Lee Wray, who is currently 18 months old. Mary-Patricia serves her community through volunteer leadership in Girl Scouts Louisiana East as a lifetime member of Girl Scouts USA having earned her Gold Award, the highest award in Girl Scouting as a member of Buckeye Trails Girl Scout Council Troop #1567. She is a member of the BREC Foundation Board focusing on work to reinvest in the life and health of the greater Baton Rouge community in that role and is involved in the Tulane and Loyola University communities working to promote the public interest as the highest good in every curriculum.
